The Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (ZIMURA) has announced a groundbreaking partnership with ACRCloud, a global leader in music recognition technology, to enhance broadcast monitoring services and ensure Zimbabwean musicians are fairly compensated for their work. This collaboration marks a significant step towards modernizing the country’s music industry by implementing real-time, accurate tracking of music airplay across radio stations.

Building on their existing collaboration with WIPO Connect, ZIMURA will now leverage ACRCloud’s cutting-edge technology to automatically identify songs played on radio, track play counts, and monitor airplay durations in real-time. This automated system will replace outdated manual tracking methods, minimizing errors and reducing administrative workload, ultimately leading to more reliable and transparent royalty distribution for composers, performers, and publishers.

The integration of ACRCloud’s Broadcast Monitoring Service with WIPO Connect’s music rights management tools will provide ZIMURA with comprehensive data, including song titles, artists, and ISRC codes. This ensures that every song played on Zimbabwean radio is accurately accounted for, guaranteeing fair compensation for artists.
