The Shoko Festival, Zimbabwe’s longest running festival of urban culture, is back with a bang this year. The festival, which runs from 27th to 30th September, features a variety of events such as music, comedy, poetry, dance, film and more. One of the most anticipated events of the festival is the Shoko Roast, which will take place on Friday 29th September at REPS Theatre in Harare.
The Shoko Roast is a comedy show where a panel of comedians and celebrities roast a guest of honor on various aspects of their life and career.
The Roast presented by Simuka Comedy is set to live up to its billing as it will feature the outspoken serial entrepreneur, Kuda Musasiwa on the hot seat.
Also known as Begotten Sun, Kuda Musasiwa wears many hats including Farmer, Entrepreneur, Music Producer, Activist and Husband.
Musasiwa will have to face the heat from a panel of roasters who will not spare him on any topic. The roast master will be Doc Vikela, one of the most popular comedians in Zimbabwe who is known for his witty and satirical humor. The other panelists include R Peels, a rapper who has collaborated with Musasiwa on several projects; Candace Mwakalyelye, a radio personality and journalist who has covered some of the most important stories in Zimbabwe; and Ricky Fire, a dancehall artist who is famous for his energetic performances and catchy songs.
Last year’s edition was a tremendous success, with the REPS Theatre selling out, when former Norton legislator, Temba Mliswa, was the Roastee, roasted by a panel made up of Vimbai Zimuto, Lucky Aaron, Carl Joshua Ncube, Prophet Madungwe, Ckhanyiso dat Guy and Kiky Badass.
This year promises even more laughter and entertainment.
It will also be a night of celebrating one of Zimbabwe’s most influential and inspiring personalities. Tickets are available online and at selected outlets. Don’t miss this chance to see Kuda Musasiwa getting roasted like never before!
