Zimbabwean music icon, King David (formerly known as Baba Harare), has shown his support for fellow musician Tanto Wavie following his recent conversion to Christianity and subsequent retirement from secular music.

Tanto Wavie announced his decision to pursue a career in Christian and gospel music on January 1st, 2025, marking a significant turning point in his career.

In a gesture of solidarity, King David visited Tanto Wavie to offer his encouragement and support.

Speaking about the visit, King David said, “Visiting Tanto Wavie today was an interesting opportunity. I had a chance to reflect on my own experiences as a Christian through someone else’s perspective. Giving one’s own life to Christ is a personal journey, but seeing someone else going through the same journey is validating. I hope he is able to discern the impact that social relationships are going to have on his decision. In the meantime, I will continue to pray and support him because he is going to need all the support he can get.”

King David’s words of encouragement hold significant weight, as he himself embarked on a similar journey last year. On January 8th, 2024, Baba Harare announced his conversion to gospel music and subsequently changed his stage name to King David, reflecting his spiritual transformation.
