A Night of Numbers

Self-proclaimed Prophet Passion Java’s “Night of Wonders” attracted a lot of social media scrutiny. The event was held at the Harare National Sports Stadium on Thursday night.

Social media users criticized and mocked the Prophet after he failed to fill the stadium, with less than 10,000 people in attendance. The most important question was what the Prophet would do after claiming that he would retire from preaching if he did not fill the giant stadium.

The stadium proved to be bigger than what the Prophet had imagined, as the man of cloth failed to attract even half capacity despite the provision of buses to ferry people to the event. Prophet Java has been holding these “Night of Wonders” services around the continent, with the recent one being held at the City Sports Stadium in February this year.

This latest event attracted more viewers on Facebook Live than those who were in attendance, as more than 10,000 people watched online. Those who braved the night to attend the event included invited guests, among them artists and comedians like Mai Titi, Levels, and Ndunge Yut, as well as politicians and many other businessmen.

The stage was another thing that stood out for many, as many appreciated that the Prophet had wonderfully set the stage. It had the style of the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show in 2022, which featured Eminem, Dr. Dre, and others.

Veteran gospel artists Mathias Mhere and Sebastian Magacha ministered before the Prophet. As usual, their ministrations were outstanding, both performing their traditional hit songs, including “Bhosvo” and “Back to Sender,” among others. They were supported by a well-coordinated choir set up by the Prophet himself.
