The Return of the Jiti King: Baba Harare Announces Comeback Album
HARARE – In a move that has set social media alight, Braveman “Baba Harare” Chizvino has announced his sensational return to the Jiti music with an upcoming album.
Baba Harare, who shot to fame in 2017 with the breakout hit Reason Why, had taken a detour into gospel music under the name King David, a move that stirred controversy among his followers. Some saw the shift as a spiritual rebirth, while others speculated it was driven by personal reasons, particularly rumors of a love interest tied to the church.
Now, years later, the artist is ready to reclaim his throne. Posting on social media yesterday, Baba Harare said: “Good morning, Jiti family. Shoko rasvika. I am coming back to assume my rightful throne. Hazviite kuti musare musina Baba. Album loading…” The announcement immediately sent waves of excitement across Zimbabwe’s music circles, with fans celebrating what many see as the rebirth of the “Jiti King.”
The singer also revealed that the new album has been in the works for two years, crafted in collaboration with renowned songstress Gemma Griffiths, with whom he previously teamed up on the hit Ndini Ndinaye In another post, Baba Harare teased their partnership, saying: “We have been cooking this new project, chinyararire. Anyway, paper 2 ne musikana weku Harare. Jiti family, are you ready? New album loading… Mamuka seiko?”
Gemma Griffiths, affectionately known as “musikana weku Harare,” has been instrumental in shaping Zimbabwe’s contemporary sound, and their reunion is expected to bring a fresh yet nostalgic flavor to the project.
For long-time fans, Baba Harare’s comeback marks not only the revival of a sound that once dominated dance floors but also a reaffirmation of his musical identity.
