Jenna Ortega has swiftly become one of the faces of contemporary horror. The teenage star’s debut role as Wednesday Addams in the self-titled Netflix series, which was partly helmed by movie great Tim Burton, helped her become the talk of the genre town last year along with her critically acclaimed performances in the slashers X and Scream. Thanks to Ortega’s incredible dance routines, Wednesday became an instant hit when the series premiered in late 2022, shattering all kinds of streaming records. Funko Pops based on Wednesday were unavoidable given the appeal of the show and its recent Season 2 renewal. On Wednesday, the renowned toy maker debuted their Wednesday with Cello as a part of the Funko Fair 2023.
Wednesday was so amazing in so many ways that it was hard to stop watching. The musical composition by Danny Elfman was outstanding from a technical standpoint and it was masterfully blended with Wednesday’s gloriously depressing coming-of-age tale. Especially when the Addams Family member who was everyone’s favorite was playing her cello. Our loving eerie protagonist set the mood beautifully for this gothic delight, whether it was Wednesday performing “Paint it Black” by The Rolling Stones in the Pilot or a warped version of the classic “Four Seasons-Winter.”
With her white and black striped sweater and completely black cello, Funko perfectly captured the spirit of Wednesday Addams and recreated the jaw-dropping “Paint it Black” moment. The figure itself also has a ton of fantastic details, including Wednesday’s freckles and her charmingly vacant look. Although the figure costs $15, it appears that finding this particular Pop will be very challenging. The figurine has already been sold out in a matter of hours. Given the series’ long-standing popularity and Ortega’s rise to prominence, this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, but maybe Funko will supply the figure soon. The Wednesday figure with the cello joins her in her black Nevermore uniform. Hot Topic exclusively sells a Diamond edition of that as well.
Being the star of one of the greatest Netflix series in history must annoy Wednesday because of all the attention and fame she is receiving. Wednesday kept the hallmarks of The Addams Family while also bringing the franchise sinisterly into the twenty-first century. It was dark, twisted, entertaining, and featured a gripping murder mystery.
You may browse through Wednesday’s whole selection on their website while we wait impatiently for Funko to replenish their cello exclusive. We can only hope that future Wednesday Funkos will include her Poe Cup cat suit and her vibrant werewolf companion Enid. Wednesday is currently available on Netflix in its entirety.
