The Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (ZIMURA) has paid glowing tribute to its long-serving Executive Director, Mrs. Polisile Ncube Chimhini who has concluded her tenure after nearly three decades of distinguished service to the Association and the intellectual property sector.

In a statement, the ZIMURA Board of Directors confirmed that Mrs. Chimhini has stepped down from her role to pursue new professional opportunities, marking the end of an era for one of Zimbabwe’s most influential music copyright administrators.

Mrs. Chimhini’s career at ZIMURA spans 30 years, during which she played a central role in shaping the organisation into a respected and visible collective management organisation both locally and internationally.

Her leadership was instrumental in strengthening music copyright administration in Zimbabwe and advancing the rights of creators in an evolving global music industry.

Beyond national borders, Mrs. Chimhini represented Zimbabwe with distinction on regional and international platforms.

Her tenure as Chairperson of the CISAC African Chapter stands out as a major milestone affirming her reputation as a leading authority in intellectual property matters across the continent.

“The Board acknowledges and deeply appreciates Mrs. Chimhini’s immense contribution, institutional knowledge and technical expertise which have been critical to the growth and standing of ZIMURA over the years,” the statement reads.

ZIMURA reassured its members and stakeholders that the transition is being handled in a structured and professional manner.

The Association’s operations will continue uninterrupted under the oversight of the Board and the current management team with further announcements on leadership arrangements expected in due course.

As she embarks on the next chapter of her professional journey, Mrs. Chimhini leaves behind a strong legacy of service, leadership and advocacy for musicians’ rights.
