Award-nominated Pathum Records will release the music video for Mugariro, which features Chana Cheng, who was born Simbarashe Donald Mdokwani, this coming Friday.
Hip-hop song “Mugariro” discusses how there is a thin line separating right and wrong when it comes to pursuing material success.
The 30-year-old hip-hop musician claims that his observations of his daily life in Zimre Park served as the bulk of his inspiration for writing this song.
“Mugariro is a song that holds a special place in my heart. While others who could were driving into town that same Friday, I wrote it as I walked home from outside the city.
“I had an epiphany that the only thing separating me from them was possibly a choice I made not to cross a line they did,” Mdokwani says.
Mdokwani thinks that although though his song is about his experience, those who listen to it would benefit from it as well.
“I think Mugariro will aid people in making that critical choice more effectively.”
