There’s a certain electricity that fills the air when dreams begin to take flight—and for a group of young performers from Inkululeko Yabatsha School of Arts (IYASA), that moment has finally arrived.

A delegation from the Bulawayo-based arts institution has departed for Berlin, where they are set to participate in the 2026 edition of the KinderKulturKarawane. The tour marks a significant milestone for the organisation, which has long been at the forefront of youth arts development in Zimbabwe.

The group, made up of five young performers, leaves after weeks of intensive rehearsals and preparation. The international tour provides them with an opportunity to showcase Zimbabwean dance, music and theatre on a global stage.

Iyasa, based in Bulawayo, has built a strong reputation for nurturing young talent in the performing arts sector. Over the years, the organisation has produced a number of notable artists and continues to play a key role in promoting cultural expression among young people.

Among those selected for the tour is Moxxy Jay, a multitalented performer who views the opportunity as a major step in his career. He is part of a new generation of artists emerging from Iyasa’s training programmes.

The KinderKulturKarawane programme brings together young performers from across the world, creating a platform for cultural exchange and engagement with international audiences through the arts.

The troupe is expected to present a body of work that reflects Zimbabwean identity, blending traditional and contemporary performance styles. Their participation positions them as cultural ambassadors, representing both Iyasa and Zimbabwe’s creative sector on an international stage.

In a send-off message shared on social media, Iyasa described the departure as a culmination of weeks of dedication and preparation, noting that the group would carry Zimbabwean stories, rhythm and culture to global audiences.

“After weeks of intense rehearsals, dedication, and passion, this talented group is stepping onto the global stage for their very first international tour—and the moment feels just right. From Zimbabwe to the world, they carry stories, rhythm, and culture with them.”

The tour underscores Iyasa’s continued efforts to elevate local talent onto international platforms, reinforcing its longstanding vision of promoting Zimbabwean arts beyond the country’s borders.
